From 3D Model to Real Home

The Boyes family lost their home in Detroit, Oregon in the 2020 Labor Day wildfires. NW Rebuild Project designed their new home in Chief Architect — and you can see exactly how it translated from a 3D rendering to the finished building.

Drag the slider below to compare the original design rendering to the completed home.

The home was planned as an open concept so family members who are deaf can maintain sightlines across shared spaces and see one another moving through the home. The layout also incorporates aging-in-place thinking: simple circulation, accessible everyday spaces, and a design that can continue serving the family as needs change over time.

These choices were not decorative extras. They shaped the room relationships, openings, circulation paths, and the way the home supports communication, independence, and long-term comfort.
